About Big Shot Golf

Big Shot Golf is a golf society that has been running since 2006. It started on a small scale with yearly trips to Spain or Portugal and 6-12 of us playing every 2 weeks.

We had a Facebook group set up, shared a few photos and shared some information about the upcoming trips. Around 2015, people started to randomly join the group and very quickly it grew to over 150 members and kept growing steadily. We realized we had the makings of a larger golf society, making advance bookings for proper society days and getting new faces involved at every event.

Our first big event was at Princes in Kent, one December where we were playing 18 holes of golf and then Christmas lunch afterwards. We had a great day and decided to do it again next year. This time, the weather was unbelievably bad, so windy on the front 9 and then the rain came in for the back 9 and we were thoroughly drenched and beaten up by the weather. Oddly, everyone enjoyed it and it really took off from there.

Since then, we've played: Princes, Hankley Common, Piltdown, West Sussex, Park Wood, Camberley Heath, Littlehampton, Surrey National, The Addington, Westerham, Woldingham, Limpsfield Chart, Trump International in Aberdeen, Cruden Bay, Royal Aberdeen, Murcar, Brora, Forest Pines, Golspie, Tain, Isle of Purbeck, Nairn, St Andrews Old course, King Robert The Bruce at Trump Turnberry, Siloth on Solway, Church Stretton, Temple and the magical Lofoten Links in Norway amongst others.

It's an informal golf society, no official handicap required, just a really friendly bunch of golfers who enjoy playing the sport we love and enjoy each others company.

There's many golf societies out there, so we decided to do something a little different and play some Top 100 courses. We have 1 or 2 weekends away each year as well. 2024 we went to Lofoton Links in Norway which is just simply, stunning ! In 2025, we're off to Johannesburg in South Africa. 2026 is to be decided.
